PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB

To implement HR strategies, policies and practices to support business objectives and growth plans for the region, to meet local statutory employment requirements, and to ensure that OUP Mexico & Central America attracts, develops and retains the best people to enable the Divisions and wider Press to achieve our mission.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ KEY RESULT AREAS

Business Partnering:  Partner with the Regional and Branch management teams to devise and implement local HR plans to support regional and divisional business objectives and growth plans in the short and longer term.   Advise and coach managers on all people- and employment-related matters, so that good practice and the needs of the business are met. 

HR policy and best practice: Build on the existing strong foundation of HR policies and procedures to provide clear standards of employment practice, in line with Group HR policies and meeting local legal and statutory requirements, ensuring these are understood and applied by managers and staff in Mexico & Central Americ

HR Projects – lead local HR projects to support business goals, and contribute to Group-wide and Divisional HR projects

Talent acquisition: Diagnose resourcing needs with line managers, devise appropriate and creative recruitment strategies, and ensure correct implementation of Recruitment & Selection process (approvals, budgets, JDs, interviews, offers, vetting policy) for all Latin America.

Performance management and talent development: Support management teams in implementation of performance management process, coaching and supporting managers with performance improvement, coaching, training, learning and career progression, in line with global policies and practices

Payroll and HR Administration: Responsible for payroll and personnel administration for Mexico and Central America (employment records, HR data management and reporting, employment agreements, administration of benefits, payroll monthly updates to vendor, HC monthly reports, HR vendors, daily assistance to employees requirements).  Includes managing HR Payroll and Administration staff.

Employment issues: Address all employment legal issues with local external lawyers and represent OUP when needed.  Coach and support managers on any employment issue.

 

KNOWLEDGE 

Professional HR training or qualificationGood experience in a generalist HR management or business partnering role, some of which in an international organization

Ability to build good working relationships with managers at all levels and to influence and challenge constructively

Experience of recruitment the talents in all levels.

Experience of compensation and benefits and of managing a payroll

A track record in the area of talent management, learning and development

Oriented problem solver with excellent analytical, organizational and communication abilities

Advance level of written and spoken English and Spanish

Excellent communication skills both oral and written                                      

Desirable: Experience of the publishing industry
