Develop and Execute Strategic Business Plans 1. Formulate business plans by conducting Expectation Meetings with key client contacts that enable the client’s vision to be realized. 2. Create strategies and execute tactics to align with Amex business strategy and meet P&L goals (i.e.expansion, cross-selling, retention, profitability improvement). 3. Obtain client agreement on measures of success, keep client engaged, and monitor performance to ensure scorecard metrics are met or exceeded. Differentiate American Express Value 1. Provide a clear, concise articulation of opportunities and the Value Proposition. Keeping in mind: culture, objectives, roles, motivation, deal breakers, politics, personality types, client values. 2. Use the Value Proposition to create interest for key contacts, open the door to new relationships within the organization, and continually reposition value with ongoing contacts. 3. Be prepared with competitive information that helps to quantify the value that Amex’s products and services bring to the client. 4. Help client understand the difference in consultative value versus transactional business (97%/3%). Build Relationships for Success 1. Create a web of influence at multiple levels between Amex and the client’s organization. 2. Build, maintain and leverage vendor, supplier, and Blue Box relationships. 3. Value and leverage the client’s circle of influence and their industry knowledge. 4. Set and manage client expectations around service and performance. 5. Ensure service level agreement, client policy, vendor agreements, and client processes are communicated to internal stakeholders. Develop in-depth understanding of the market 1. Gather data/evidence to determine what the competition is doing, what they offer, and how they position their key differentiators (e.g.read articles and product literature). 2. Conduct research and data gathering activities, across markets and regions (e.g.read financial reports, industry analyses, and business literature) to understand client opportunities and impacts (e.g.regulatory, compliance, technical infrastructure and systems, internal resources, etc.). Manage an Effective Portfolio 1. Assess and determine best opportunities for business by understanding the market and any gathered data. 2. Utilize a portfolio management approach to segment client base and prepare appropriate client level strategies. 3. Analyze gaps in the portfolio, asking and answering questions such as “How many more opportunities do I need in my portfolio to reach my target?” and “Where do I need additional opportunities?"
