The communication manager will be responsible for leading and directing all communication and public relations efforts for Pueblo Viejo Dominicana corporation ( PVDC). Main Duties and Responsibilities :




  • Assess communication needs of PVDC, taking into consideration target audiences, including shareholders, employees, and the community. Develop and implement communication programs to address needs.




  • Fulfill all requirements of the Barrick Development System (BDS), communications for the project through its various phases, working closely with the Country Manager and staff.




  • Manage media relations:




    • Monitoring media activity and establishing relationships with relevant media.




    • Report and advise through Corporate Communication Channels as public issues arise or are anticipated, coordinating responses for consistency.






  • External relations:




    • Working with Corporate Affairs, Community Relations, Legal, Government Relations, Environment and other departments, provide communication support to help manage related public issues, launch programs or publicize initiatives.




    • Act as liaison with local government authorities, business associations, NGOs and other external groups as directed and guided by the Executive, Director .






  • Internal communications:




    • Provide advice and support to local leadership to help inform local employees about company vision, values, objectives and initiatives.




    • Environment, Maintenance, Mining, Human Resources, Safety, Security, IT, and others as required to ensure successful local rollout of programs.




    • Build an effective internal communications system using technologies to serve all PVDC employees.






  • Act as a company spokesman for PVDC as directed by the Country Manager, Director.




  • Manage the Communications budget.

Qualifications




  • 4 year degree in corporate comm., P.R., journalism or related field.




  • 5+ years of experience in communications or public relations role.




  • Experience in mining or industrial setting preferred.




  • Skill in analysis and interpretation of public issues and government policies.




  • Excellent organization skills; good resource administrator; aware of cost control.




  • Strong spoken and written Spanish, English language skills required.
