We are seeking a Supplier Development Engineer Casting (foundry) on behalf of our client who is a world leader in automotive products with annual revenues of more than $4B, employing over 13,000 people in over 30 sites worldwide.

SCOPE

The WW Technical Supplier Development Engineer for Casting and Machining works in a global organization of Supplier Development Engineers, driving new supplier identification and audits, assessing supplier capability, and leading the successful transition of new and legacy products and technologies to suppliers for Casting and Machining commodities within an assigned region.

This position will be located in Mexicali, Mexico.

RESPONSABILITIES

• Execution of sourcing and supplier development plans for Casting and machining commodity.


• Accountable to drive specific activities for one or more platforms teams.


• Develop APQP process for new products with NPI and Lead buyer


• Approve manufacturing processes for new suppliers in conformity with ISO TS 16949 / 2002


• Teaming with other functions to ensure that assigned suppliers are capable of new product launches and incremental business growth to meet/ exceed customer performance objectives.


• Interface with Platform teams.


• Benchmarks manufacturing processes and drives implementation of best practices


• Any other responsibilities received from TSD CM Manager on his area of activity

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Have expertise on castings and machining: Metallurgy / FEA/ Foundry


• Communicate in a clear and concise manner with all business functions and suppliers.


• Excellent personal organization. Capable to plan and manage his own work.


• Manage large quantities of data in a methodical and rigorous manner.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT)


• Time analysis. Statistical process control


• Project management.


• Bias for action. Proactive approach.


• Superior communication skills. The ability to influence, stimulate and energize suppliers.


• Casting and machining: metallurgy/ FEA/ Foundry. Iron and steel casting processes. Die casting process


• Materials/ Heat treatment/ Tools


• Design/ Machining/ Gauging/ Fixture design /Assembly


• Process auditing


• Quality practices: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, ISO TS, etc.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of a second language is a plus.


• University Graduate, Metallurgic or Mechanical specialty.


• Previous working experience of minimum five years, preferable in automotive industry.


• Lean expert/ Black Belt is a plus.
