REPESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

Specific responsibilities include:

- Unix administration functions within a mission critical customer environment
- Problem resolution within contractual time constraints
- Utilization reporting and performance monitoring / tuning
- Technical consulting on server solutions to customer application developers, database administrators, and others
- Installation and configuration of new hardware, operating systems, and server management software products
- Creation of operational procedures and documentation

Specific requirements for Unix administrators located remotely from the Northwest Service Center include:

- Normal (day shift) work schedule at remote location
- First contact for problem resolution and urgent system administration requests during normal work hours (off-shift hours at NWSC); includes escalation to other ACS teams as required
- Team meetings and customer meetings may require participation by telephone during off shift hours at remote location
- Activities scheduled at customer convenience (such as patching) may require periodic off shift work at remote location Education and Typical Years of Experience:A Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including at least 3 years Unix server administration experience in a large-scale computer/systems environment.

Proficiency using personal computer and associated applications including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Specific Requirements:5-7 years HPUX support, 11i, 11.23, Enterprise level support, performance analysis


5+ years administering enterprise-level HP/UX servers with SAN-attached storage; 7+ years system administration experience; Sun Solaris experience a plus.
- Volume manager and filesystem tools (Veritas VxVM; HP MirrorDisk/UX)

- Clustering experience (eg HP MC/ServiceGuard)

- Shell scripting

- General computing environment knowledge including networking, DNS, etc. to assist with server engineering and troubleshooting

- Strong oral and written English language skills including experience creating
written documentation for technical and non-technical audiences

- Demonstrated customer relations skills

- Demonstrated ability to work independently while following documented
processes and procedures

Experience in the following areas is desired but not required:

- Remedy problem management system

- SAN-attached storage

US Day 24x7 on-call approx every 10 weeks
