An intermediate-level professional, the learning & development consultant is a fully competent, individual producer who applies a broad knowledge of training evaluation, development and delivery concepts, practices and procedures. incumbents are competent to work on complex efforts, and perform a full range of analytical and/or professional activities. the incumbent generally works under difficult deadlines and often handles heavy workloads, operating with only general supervision. provides functional and project leadership on an ongoing basis to less experienced personnel.
***Representative principal duties and responsibilities***
Provides professional and analytical support during the evaluation, development and delivery of training programs for skills, technical, management and staff development training.
Develops new training materials and revises pre-existing resources to ensure business unit or group training needs are met. evaluates training methodology and makes revisions/additions as required.
Evaluates and determines business unit or group training needs. may interface with management to ascertain and document training needs.
May assign and train instructors in effective techniques/methodology of providing training and may facilitate training offerings.
Provides input to more senior staff on assessments of business unit objectives, departmental needs, business systems or changes to products, procedures or services, which may impact related training needs.
Through lower level staff, ensures the timely and accurate production of applicable training materials.
Works with vendors and other third party sources (i.e., colleges, universities) to coordinate technical or professional training offerings.
Ensures data compilation, report generation and accompanying analyses are completed and provided in a timely manner.
Routinely provides guidance to and assists in the training of less experienced staff.
Education and typical years of experience:A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
