We are seeking a senior-level engineering professional for the role of Engineering Manager of our client's expanding medical device manufacturing operation in Tijuana, Mexico. Our client is a publicly-held U.S. corporation with operations worldwide. This position will report to the Plant Manager. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: • Responsible for all engineering and technical functions in the plant and other external Plant communications. • Engineering functions include process-product-project engineering, industrial engineering, Technical Documentation, and facilities tooling and machine maintenance. • Administration and management of the Engineering organization within the Tijuana manufacturing facility. • Assures that product processing requirements are adequately defined, developed, implemented and maintained during the manufacturing of all production components, sub-assemblies, and finished products. • Assures that all industrial engineering activities including floor lay-outs, line extensions, material flow, work flow charts, labor standards, and budegetary inputs are performed to current procedures. • Assures that product and document change activities are carried out per a engineering change board(ECB) and that plant product/ document changes are kept up to date in the corporate Documentum and BPIC systems. • Assure that all facility and machine maintenance is carried out in accordance with all applicable plant procedures and standards. • Initiating and implementing capital projects in the plant. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assuring that engineering activities are consistant with the plant's overall mission, values, and annual objectives, and are implemented on a professional, cost effective, and timely basis. • Assuring that the appropriate engineering organizational resources are available to implement the engineering activities. • Assure that appropriate engineering and cost reduction reporting systems are implemented through the Tijuana manufacturing organization to provide various departmental managers with information regarding departmental performance. • Support with corporate marketing and R&D personnel on new products, changed products, cost reductions, consolidations, capital projects, and other corporate activities related the department. • Communicate with the technical areas of other plants within our client's organization, including corporate engineering, and represent the facility in all technical projects, meetings, and other groups. • Guide, mentor, support, and give direction to the department personnel. • Performs, affects, and/or coordinates any other work activity that the immediate supervisor requests due to the needs of the company. SCOPE & IMPACT: • The position is essential to the regulatory and operational success of our client's facility in Tijuana. FUNCTIONAL GUIDANCE: • Guides the Engineering functions through identification of product and processing problems, and follow-up to assure effective corrective action. • Guides all departments toward compliance with applicable engineering, and documentation standards. • Guides all departments to resolve technical issues on processing, products, documentation, maintenance, lay-outs, and product costs. KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: • Thorough knowledge project management techniques with a good understanding of basic plastic processing techniques including injection molding, extrusion, plastic welding and decorating, packaging machines( FFS), the RF sealing process, tooling and tool room operations, and strong mechanical - electrical aptitude. • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in written format.
